Bean to cup machines and traditional machines will use fresh coffee beans and fresh milk. You can then make black coffee, white coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte etc. This is one of the cheapest ways of making coffee.

With a bean to cup machine, fresh coffee beans are placed in the machine and by pressing a button the machine grinds the beans and pours the fresh coffee into your cup. The machine automatically heats and froths the milk to make the perfect latte or cappuccino. Bean to cup machines are quick, easy and reliable. Most machines will allow you to program at least 6 drink selections, such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, black coffee, machiato etc.

You should be able to find machines designed to produce anything from 40 cups per day to over 1000 per day. Some of the higher volume modules will produce 2 cappuccinos at once, while most will make 2 black coffees at once.

Traditional coffee machines - Fresh beans and fresh milk

Usually made in Italy the best manufactures are Brasilia and Gaggia. These are the large machines normally seen in cafe bars and restaurants. These machines need a separate grinder to grind the coffee. The size depends on how many "group brewing heads", the most common one by far has 2, but some smaller sites will have 1, while large establishments may have 3 or 4.

To make coffee using a traditional coffee machine you need to load the grinder with coffee beans. Dose 7 grams of coffee into the brewing head and tamp tight. Extract coffee for 18-25 seconds into a cup. For cappuccinos froth milk in a jug using the steam arm, add to cup and sprinkle with chocolate or topping of your choice. A coffee can be made as quickly as a bean to cup machine. These machines are capable of producing 100's if not 1000' s of cups per day. A group 2 machine with grinder will require approximately 1m of bar area.

A group 2 machine will make 4 coffees at once and will be suitable for most sites. Prices start from around £1000 for a 1 group machine to around £6000 for a 4 group top of range machine.
